WHAT WE SOUND LIKE: Psychedelic, weighty, and spacey. Heavy mood-creating stomping rock -- but very tasteful.
WHERE WE ACQUIRED OUR CHOPS: We all have a similar musical palate. We grew up listening to the Beatles, Stones, Bowie, the Cure, the Smiths…and Wham!
WHERE WE CAME FROM: We got together right out of high school, around 1990--we all met around the same time, out of garage jam sessions, and within a period of 30 days, it all came together…in the suburbs of San Francisco. We got a house and rented it and recorded demos, and it's pretty much been that way ever since.
WHERE WE'RE COMING FROM: Lots of places. Depression, alienation, isolation…We're coming from those places, and now we're into love, sexual gratification, all that stuff. (No, we are not in a band just to get laid.)
DISCS CURRENTLY SPINNING IN OUR TOUR BUS: Beachwood Sparks, Supergrass, Air's Virgin Suicides soundtrack, Built To Spill, Flaming Lips, Rollerskate Skinny.
WHERE WE GOT OUR NAME: An obscure literary-reference band name--Dora Flood is actually a character in Cannery Row. Very few people will remember that one!
WHAT WE ARE READING RIGHT NOW: Shogun. Everyone who sees you reading the book says, "Oh, man, that's where they boil the guy on TV!"
ULTIMATE BAND TO OPEN UP FOR: The Beatles and Kiss. On the same bill. The Beatles headlining, Kiss supporting, and Dora Flood opening. Hey, now that'd be a good concert!
OUR FAVORITE STUPID JOKE: You know why six is afraid of seven? 'Cause seven, eight, nine!
